Flawless Loss

Her laughter broke the silence
in which I waited

my cigarette smoke mingled with the rain and
the click of her heels as she approached

"Got a light?" her red lips whispered

as I touched flame
to the devils smoke I heard

angels lamenting my demise
but her smile

"My God. . . ." her smile
